Are you ready for Election Results?
This election has been a different experience for most Hispanics in Southern
Colorado, Not only are Hispanics voter numbers up; Hispanic involvement at the
basic level has reached record numbers. I see so many of these individuals work
so hard, so many have worked harder that they ever anticipated. I guess it helps
to have many Hispanic known names both Republican and Democratic sides pitching
in to assist.
Not to long ago you had to search for Hispanic involvement. One of the most
positive dynamics to come out of this election is the fact that most of these
volunteers that are getting involved are very young. This experienced cadre can
be a very positive effective in future election issues. It is a different ball
game when the bulk of assistants have been there before.
This has been a unique and difficult election for Veterans. Some are sure whom
they are going to vote for, others are still struggling. What some non-veterans
don’t understand, it is just not numbers that go somewhere, to some battlefield.
There is so much of life in its simplest form, that war vets miss out on, the
wife an children left behind or mom or dad have passed away. They are not just a
number. Many Vets have told me, they are tired of attending funerals of young
men.
This country many of us fought for is in a dire period at present. We can be
confident that our community can withstand, and endure. I am proud of the
actions of our community during this period. No matter how this election turns
out, be cognizant that our community will be there to assist in any way.
