Postal Service to offer special postmark and souvenir pictorial envelope at
the 20th annual Arkansas Valley Balloon Festival
ROCKY FORD & SUGAR CITY, CO The U.S. Postal Service is
offering a special postmark and a souvenir colorful, collectible
envelope in honor of the 20th annual Arkansas Valley Balloon Festival
in Rocky Ford, which runs from November 7-9.
The special postmark and collectible envelope will be available
starting this Saturday, Nov. 8, at the festival. Postal employees will
have a special postal booth set up on the festival grounds at Rocky
Ford High School for festival goers to obtain these items as well as
to receive other mailing services.
The postmark is FREE while the souvenir envelope costs $10 each. The
souvenir envelope features a beautiful picture of several hot air
balloons flying over the Arkansas River, with the Arkansas Valley
Balloon Festival logo overlaying the image.
In addition to obtaining the postmark, collectible envelope and
mailing services at the postal booth, postal workers will also be
offering demonstrations on how to easily ship holiday packages
on-line, to create your own personal holiday cards, and how to do
other mailing services on-line at usps.com.
"The Rocky Ford and Sugar City Post Offices are pleased to offer this
beautiful souvenir envelope and postmark to celebrate the balloon
festival's 20th birthday," says Sugar City Postmaster Janet Hijar.
"The Arkansas Balloon Festival is such a popular event and one that
attracts people from all over the country. The Postal Service is proud
to participate and to be part of this wonderful event."
Customers can also obtain the special balloon festival postmark by
mail order for 30 days starting Nov. 8. To get the FREE postmark, send
pre-addressed, stamped postcard(s) and envelope(s), include them in a
larger stamped envelope and mail to either the Rocky Ford or Sugar
City Post Office address noted below. Orders will be taken by mail
until Dec. 7, 2008.
