Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Welcomes Return Of Military Appreciation Weekend
Stars, Stripes and Sunscreen
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo will again host a Military Appreciation Weekend this
year on Saturday and Sunday, September 20 and 21, 2008. As in years past,
the Zoo wishes to express its appreciation to the many military families in our
community who have made huge sacrifices on the public’s behalf with their
military service. With so many service members returning from duty away from
home, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo wishes to invite military families to spend some
quality time together at the Zoo.
Military Appreciation Weekend will be two fun-filled days of stars, stripes and
sunscreen. Admission for active duty military personnel and their families
will be reduced to $4.25 per person during this special weekend when the Zoo
thanks those who risk their necks to protect ours.
Celebrating its 82nd anniversary, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has been a place where
memories are made and people of all ages and all walks of life come together to
explore the animal kingdom. The Zoo remains one of a handful of non-profit,
self-supporting zoos in the nation that depends entirely on earned income,
membership dues, gifts and donations for funding. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is open
every day of the year and is home to more than 750 animals representing
approximately 142 species, 30 of which are endangered.
