District 11 Develops New Menu Format For High Schools
The District 11 Food & Nutrition Services Team has created a new menu format
for D-11 high schools that brings a wonderful world of new tastes to high
schools. "We're trying to teach students about diversity and cultures of the
world through food," says Rick Hughes, director of the food services program.
Fusion will feature six different cultures throughout a six-week period.
South of the Border – South America, Mexico, etc.
A Taste of the Mediterranean – Greece, Italy, etc.
Asian Persuasion – China, Japan, Thailand, etc.
Down Home Delights – United States
Flavors of the Tropics – Jamaica, Cuba, and the Caribbean
European Flair – Sweden, Germany, France, etc.
Jan. 22, the Fusion station of Cafe Fresca in D-11 high schools will feature
food, bits of trivia, flags of nations, music, etc. from other parts of our
world. The food services program plans to partner with local restaurant chefs,
high school geography clubs, and teachers in District 11 high schools.
