2007 Hyundai Azera Allows Buyers To Feel Good, Not Guilty
Packed with even more luxury and safety features, the Azera returns in 2007
to further define how consumers think about premium sedans by offering
additional value. With its enhanced interior, added convenience features and
standard safety technologies, the 2007 Azera is a luxurious, yet practical
alternative for consumers in the market for other premium vehicles like the
Lexus ES 350, Mercedes Benz E-Class and BMW 760i.

New for 2007
• Sideview mirrors with side marker indicators added to Ultimate Package
• Enchanced electroluminescent cluster display standard on all Limited models
• Steering wheel audio controls with seek up/down standard on all models
• Black leather interior receives light gray contrasting stitching
First unveiled for the 2006 model year, the Azera has quickly proven itself as a
strong seller and competitor to the Toyota Avalon. For example, it ranked higher
than Avalon and earned second place in its segment in the 2006 Initial Quality
Study issued by J.D. Power and Associates – an uncommon feat for a car in its
first year on the market. It is also the Most Appealing Large Car in the 2006
J.D. Power and Associates Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL)
Study and has received the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety’s (IIHS) top
crash test rating for frontal offset impacts.
STRIKING FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Hyundai appreciates the power of first impressions, and one look at its premium
flagship sedan – the Azera – is proof. The proportions are graceful, purposeful
and aerodynamically efficient, offering a minimum of wind noise, maximum
stability on the highway and a spacious cabin. With the perfect combination of
comfort, room and power, the 2007 Azera delivers on Hyundai’s promise of
superior safety and value.

SAFETY FEATURES
Maintaining Hyundai’s emphasis on delivering leading safety technology, the 2007
Azera boasts impressive active and passive safety features to protect its
occupants in the event of a collision – helping it earn the IIHS’s top crash
test ratings for frontal offset impacts. The Azera continues to set new
standards by making key life-saving active safety technology such as Electronic
Stability Control (ESC) with a Traction Control System (TCS) standard. Also
standard are independent double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension,
large four-wheel disc brakes and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) that includes
Brake Assist, which provides maximum braking force when a panic stop is detected
and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) to optimize brake performance even with
differing vehicle loading.
Additionally, the Azera offers impressive passive safety features, including
eight standard airbags, active front head restraints to help prevent whiplash, a
child seat Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) system, and
three-point seatbelts for all positions. Shingle-style rear seat head restraints
provide drivers with improved visibility. Security is further advanced with an
anti-theft engine immobilizer and remote keyless entry.

ACCOMMODATING INTERIOR
The 2007 Azera offers luxurious appointments and spaciousness that rivals the
finest premium competitor brands. It offers a roomy ride, with nearly 44 inches
of legroom and more than 38 inches of legroom for rear-seat passengers. Hyundai
engineers have created efficient packaging to maximize interior volume – with
the 2007 Azera offering more interior volume (123.5 cubic-ft.) than the Avalon,
Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedans and the BMW 760i.
Special attention has been paid to other interior details, such as the
enhanced electroluminescent cluster display and new steering wheel audio control
functions, new for 2007. Other unexpected luxury appointments include
rain-sensing wipers, power adjustable foot pedals and power folding exterior
sideview mirrors with turn signal indicators.
The Azera comes standard with dual front automatic climate controls,
electrochromic auto-dimming mirror with HomeLink, power driver and passenger
seats, and woodgrain and metalgrain interior accents. The Azera is also now
available in beige or gray premium cloth (SE) and beige, gray and black leather
(Limited) interior.
An AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system that includes a four-channel, 172-watt internal
amplifier and six speakers, comes standard in the Azera. Audiophiles with even
more demanding tastes will be impressed by the available Infinity™ audio system
that includes a 7-channel, 315-watt amplifier with an in-dash six-disc CD
changer and 10 speakers, optional on both the SE and Limited trim levels.

POWER AND PERFORMANCE
The Azera delivers a powerful performance thanks to its clean and efficient
all-aluminum 3.8-liter DOHC V6 engine, which delivers 263 horsepower and 257
lb-ft. of torque. To maximize the power spread, the engine utilizes Continuously
Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) and a Variable Intake System to help cylinders
breathe efficiently at both low and high rpm.
Compared to its primary competitors, the Azera offers more standard
horsepower than the Ford Five Hundred, Buick LaCrosse and even the BMW 530i.
Even with its impressive output, the Azera remains environmentally friendly,
achieving Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) certification levels.
The 3.8-liter engine is matched to Hyundai’s five-speed automatic
transmission with SHIFTRONIC® manual control. This transmission offers smooth
shifts and a wide spread of ratios that ideally suit the engine’s
characteristics. The transmission is fully adaptive to add to driver control.

COMFORTABLE AND CONTROLLED SUSPENSION
Hyundai engineers benchmarked some of the best cars in the category before
designing the Azera’s unibody and four-wheel independent suspension system.
Utilizing high-tensile steel in critical areas in the unibody increases
stiffness and ensures formidable resistance to flexing, enhancing ride and
handling qualities and lowering noise levels inside the vehicle. To this rigid
structure is attached a double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear
suspension system complete with specially tuned twin-tube gas-charged dampers
and front and rear stabilizer bars. The stiff body allowed Hyundai engineers to
deliver a driving dynamics package that offered both a comfortable, quiet ride,
as well as precise steering and handling.
The Azera is available in two tire sizes: the SE uses 16-inch alloy wheels with
225/60VR16 tires, while the Limited gets 17-inch wheels and 235/55VR17 tires.
AZERA SE
The Azera SE is an
upscale, stylish large sedan designed for consumers who are interested in a
unique combination of spaciousness, performance, and safety technologies. It
includes an impressive range of standard features that give it a competitive
edge. A partial list of features includes a powerful 3.8-liter DOHC V6 engine
with 263 horsepower, a smooth-shifting five-speed automatic transmission with
SHIFTRONIC® manual control, standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with
Traction Control System (TCS), a six-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system, and
eight airbags. Upscale features include LED tail and brake lamps,
electrochromatic mirror with compass and HomeLink, power driver and passenger
seats, and active dual front head restraints. The optional premium package
offers a power sunroof and a powerful 315-watt Infinity™ audio system.
AZERA LIMITED
An extraordinary array of standard features and amenities define the prestigious
Azera Limited, Hyundai’s ultimate flagship sedan. Standard features include
17-inch alloy wheels with 235/55VR17 tires, leather seating, heated front seats,
and an all-new electroluminescent instrument cluster. The Limited also has
steering-wheel and door pull wood trim, a power rear sunshade, and bumper
moldings with chrome-inserts. The Infinity™ audio system, power adjustable
tilt-and-telescopic steering column, integrated memory system, power-adjustable
foot pedals and rain-sensing wipers are among the available, highly desirable
upgrades. Azera Limited with Ultimate Package also receives power-folding
exterior mirrors with turn signal indicators.
