Free Admission At All Colorado State Parks On August 6Colorado State Parks will celebrate Colorado Day by waiving admission fees at all 41 parks on Monday, Aug. 6. Colorado Day was established by the state legislature in 1988 to recognize Colorado’s acceptance into the union in 1876. “Colorado Day is an opportunity for all Coloradoans to get outside and experience the diverse natural beauty and recreational activities that all of the 41 state parks have to offer,” says Gary Thorson, Colorado State Parks Deputy Director. The 41 state parks throughout Colorado showcase the state’s diverse landscape—from the prairies on the plains at Bonny Lake State Park, to the rugged mountains of State Forest State Park, to the unique geological landscape at Roxborough State Park. Recreational opportunities are endless at all Colorado State Parks.
Recreational activities include, bird and wildlife viewing, boating, jet skiing,
sail boarding, water skiing, swimming, fishing, whitewater rafting, geocaching,
hiking, horseback riding, hunting, off highway vehicle riding and many more.
This Colorado Day, be sure to get out to a state park for a fun-filled day that
the whole family can enjoy. Attracting more than 11 million visitors per year, Colorado's 41 State Parks
are a vital cornerstone in Colorado's economy and quality of life, offering some
of the best outdoor recreation destinations in the state. Colorado State Parks
manages more than 4,000 campsites, 57 cabins and yurts, encompassing 246,000
