Colorado College
Founded in 1874 in downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado College is a
top-ranked liberal arts and sciences college enrolling 1,900 students. Best
known for the innovative Block Plan, where students take and professors teach
only one course at a time, Colorado College has an average class size of 13 and
a 9:1 student/faculty ratio.
From the beginning, Colorado College has been a co-educational institution;
there were 25 students in the first class – 13 men and 12 women. Students come
from every state in the nation and more than 17 countries. Fifty-five percent of
students receive financial aid.
Drawing upon the adventurous spirit of the Rocky Mountain West, CC challenges
students to develop those habits of intellect and imagination that will prepare
them for learning and leadership throughout their lives.
