Adams State College

Adams State College is Colorado’s Regional Educational Provider for Southern Colorado and a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). Thus, Adams State offers quality, accessible, and affordable educational programs to meet the needs of rural, underserved, and minority populations. Adams State’s undergraduate student body is more than 37 percent minority; of those nearly 29 percent identify as Hispanic.

Colorado's premier public small college, Adams State is located in the San Luis Valley of south-central Colorado, surrounded by stunning mountains in Alamosa.

Small class size, a diverse student population, high quality faculty, and access across disciplines provide hands-on learning. Students discover their strengths in a supportive, friendly environment. They are encouraged to become involved in the campus community and given the freedom to discover their talents and strengths.

Adams State is proud to offer one of the lowest tuition rates among four-year colleges in Colorado. In addition, a variety of financial aid and scholarship offerings make an Adams State education accessible to all.

Adams State has one full-time teaching professor for every 18 students, and academic advising is provided by full-time professors. Students may select from 17 majors and more than 40 minors and areas of emphasis. Pre-professional and master’s degree programs are also available. Recent additions to the curriculum include undergraduate programs in agri-business, nursing, sports psychology, and creative writing, as well as master’s programs in Human Performance and Physical Education – coaching emphasis, and in Humanities – history emphasis. Several graduate programs are regularly offered in communities across the state.

Adams State College offers a range of distance education options through the Division of Extended Studies. Four Adams State College academic programs have won Program of Excellence Awards from the Colorado Commission on Higher Education.
