Junior League Of Colorado Springs announces 5th Annual “Care Fair”The Junior League of Colorado Springs and its community partners’ Peak Vista Community Health Centers, Memorial Health System, and Magic 98.9 FM are sponsoring the 5th Annual CARE Fair on Saturday, July 21, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Peak Vista Community Health Centers: Family Health Clinic, 2840 International Circle & Dental Clinic, 2828 International Circle. CARE Fair is a free health fair for uninsured and underinsured school-aged children. This event will provide free immunizations, back-to-school physicals as well as dental, hearing, diabetes, and vision screenings. Free haircuts will be offered along with school supplies. There will be various community agencies on hand to distribute information intended to help support parents raising children. Each year CARE Fair serves an average of 450 children. Last year 48 Junior League members provided a total of 232 volunteer manpower hours for set-up and support the day of the event. This year, JLCS volunteers will again staff the event with help from community medical and dental volunteers. Parents are encouraged to bring their children’s immunization records to the event. Colorado, the Junior League of Colorado Springs felt a mandate to act.
Therefore, the JLCS launched CARE Fair. It has Junior League of Colorado Springs is a non-profit organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The Junior League of Colorado Springs advocates for youth enabling them to be effective and valued citizens of this community.
