Southwestern Heritage Roundup at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum
Here is your chance to have a close encounter with a live longhorn cow and
experience our Southwestern heritage on the grounds of the Colorado Springs
Pioneers Museum. Beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2007, enjoy
traditional Hispanic music by Michelle Lobato, presentations on wool dying and
spinning, and meet trick roper Cowboy Steve. Shortly after noon cowboys herding
100 longhorns down Tejon Street will arrive and round-up the bovines in front of
the Museum.
This free event kicks off the Ride for the Brand Ranch Rodeo in town through
August 19th and highlights the vibrant new exhibit of Rio Grande Textiles inside
the Museum. You can't get any more southwestern than this and it’s all free.
Activities begin at 11:30 a.m. and the longhorns arrive shortly after high noon,
rain or shine.
Bring the kids and picnic on the lawn. This is a fun way to learn about our
region’s southwestern heritage. Parking is available in the City parking garage
at Nevada and Cucharris street. The Museum is located at 215 S. Tejon. Call
719-385-5990 for more information.
