New Web site to Market the Colorado Springs Experience

(Colorado Springs, CO) -- A new Web site, www.ColoradoSprings.travel, launched on March 1, 2007, and will be marketed aggressively at the national level to inspire travelers to visit the Pikes Peak region.

Created by Experience Colorado Springs at Pikes Peak (the Convention and Visitors Bureau), the site provides authenticated and unbiased information to leisure and business travelers who are considering a trip to this region.

Web sites with the .travel domain extension are becoming more widely used within the travel industry and achieve a higher ranking than their .com counterparts on the www.search.travel search engine. Consumers and meeting planners can use this new search engine with confidence, knowing that the .travel sites that come up in their search represent actual destinations and are not simply a discount travel site.

Lisa Amend is the CVB's communications manager and oversees Internet strategic planning. "The site is visually rich, and we'll continue to add photographic images and video clips that represent the beauty and unique aspects of Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region," said Amend. "This site will provide enough imagery and information to inspire travel to the region. When the visitor reaches that point in their planning process, they can immediately click through to our main site (www.ExperienceColoradoSprings.com) to create an itinerary and book a hotel room."

"The new .travel Web site will complement, not replace, our existing .com site," said Amy Long, director of marketing and membership. "Our advertising budget is emphasizing Internet marketing to mirror and anticipate how our visitors are obtaining travel and destination information."

Both of the Experience Colorado Springs Web sites are hosted by local firm Blue Sky Designs, whose staff also designed the ColoradoSprings.travel site. Local firm Internet Honey provides Internet marketing services and search engine optimization for both sites.
