PCC tabs Pueblo native to direct Small Business Development Center
Pueblo native Caroline
Parra has been named Director of the Small Business Development Center at Pueblo
Community College and will oversee its operations in Pueblo, Fremont and Custer
counties.
Parra earned dual bachelor’s degrees in mass communications and sociology
from the University of Southern Colorado (now Colorado State University-Pueblo)
in 1997 and a master’s in organizational management from the University of
Phoenix.
For the past year and a half, Parra worked as district grants and economic
development director for Rep. John Salazar. Before that, she worked several
years in marketing and community development in the non-profit sector including
stints at the Senior Resource Development Agency, St. Mary-Corwin Medical
Center, MCI World Com and KTSC (television station at CSU-Pueblo).
A child of a military family, Caroline moved often and graduated from high
school in Anchorage, Alaska. In 1992, she returned to Pueblo, where she has
worked ever since. She has an 11-year-old daughter, Kylie, who attends the Cesar
Chavez Academy.
