St. Mary-Corwin Awards Romero Scholarship to ER Nurses
St. Mary-Corwin is pleased to announce that it awarded $2,500 in scholarship
funds to two of its Emergency Room nurses in memory of Louise Anita Evans
Romero. The recipients of the Romero Scholarship, Brian Bentz, R.N., and
Jennifer Harper, R.N., were recognized at a recent E.R. staff meeting by Sandy
Nebl, R.N., M.S.N., A.C.N.P., Chief Nursing Officer, and were presented with the
scholarship check by members of the St. Mary-Corwin Health Foundation.
The applicants were required to submit a cover letter outlining their
professional objectives, and a personal essay on their future endeavors and
goals for the education they are pursuing in an accredited nursing program.
The donor of this memorial scholarship is her husband, Ernest Romero, who
resides in Kansas City, Missouri. After the passing of his wife, Romero funded
this scholarship in her memory. She graduated in 1933 from the Seton School of
Nursing, which was then associated with St. Mary’s Hospital.
