A Mouse in the House

Get ready for the bigger-than-life stage performance of “If You Give a Mouse a
Cookie” and high-tail it over to Celebration Place for this fun family workshop.
First, we’ll listen to a reading of the book which features the hilarious high
jinx of a demanding mouse and an energetic young boy. Then we’ll create our very
own mouse-terpieces using cool Crayola products. This is one workshop sure to
leave you all warm and fuzzy inside! For ages 3 & up. Reservations are REQUIRED.
African Dance & Drum

Celebrate black history month and the roots of Africa in this joyful
demonstration of West African dance and drumming. The rhythm of the drums and
movements of the dancers will bring everyone, young and old, to their feet to
participate in this cultural celebration. Come be part of the excitement! For
ages 4 & up. Reservations are REQUIRED.
Chinese New Year Banners

“Gung Hay Fat Choy” means “Happy New Year” in the Chinese language. Come
celebrate the start of the Chinese New Year – the Year of the Pig – by creating
traditional banners depicting various good luck symbols and sayings. Instructor
Jane Bennett will teach you how to use watercolor and tempera paints to create
original banners that feature Chinese calligraphy. You’ll learn a little more
about the Chinese culture and some of their annual celebrations. For ages 3 and
up. Reservations are REQUIRED.
Adinkra Quilt Block Making

Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of African Adinkra symbols. After a brief
demonstration, create your own piece of history by using stamping techniques to
transfer the symbols onto cloth. For ages 4 & up. Reservations are REQUIRED.
Celebration Place is located on the upper level of The Citadel, across from
Steve & Barry’s.
