DESIGN

“The Chrysler Pacifica has always been a handsome, protective, distinguished vehicle,” said Joe Dehner, Director – Exterior Design. “The 2007 Pacifica keeps this distinctive protector appearance but with more contemporary cues and attributes, such as the addition of Chrysler brand-inspired strakes on the hood, a full-width chrome accent on the front fascia and the face-of-Chrysler headlamps. The 2007 Pacifica reflects its roots but with a more contemporary appearance.”

The original Pacifica was designed to be a “Handsome Protector,” the original internal moniker of the vehicle. It offered a stylish exterior with a first-class, flexible interior experience that didn’t compromise safety and security. The new 2007 Chrysler Pacifica takes that starting point and adds “more” – more style, more safety, more horsepower and more torque.

The 2007 Chrysler Pacifica gets an exterior makeover that gives it a more contemporary look, while keeping pace with the rest of the Chrysler showroom.

Design cues that bring the “Handsome Protector” to life for the 2007 Pacifica include a broad-shouldered, wide stance, emphasized by a protective and distinguished “face.” A sleek, solid exterior with a crisp, distinctive character line which begins at the front wheel opening and ramps up slowly toward the rear, emphasizes the vehicle’s beltline.

Chrysler brand-inspired strakes on the hood, the “face of Chrysler” headlamps, the full-width chrome accent strip on the front fascia and a new grille with three horizontal bars and the distinctive Chrysler “winged badge are some of the design attributes that give the new 2007 Chrysler Pacifica its distinctive and recognizable style.

The Chrysler Pacifica interior follows the same clean, sculptured, elegant flow of the exterior. The vehicle features easy step-across entry and exit, and chair-height seats that give passengers a sense of security and a commanding view of the road. Other new interior treatments for 2007 include YES Essentials® stain resistant, odor resistant, anti-static fabric, a new two-tone instrument panel and door trim, revised instrument cluster graphics, and five- or six-passenger seating for a stylish, solid and secure ride.

ENGINEERING

“Get behind the wheel of the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica to experience what the new 4.0-liter engine, six-speed transmission and increased torque offer – it’s a great driving experience,” said Larry Lyons, Vice President – Front-wheel Drive Product Team. “In addition to the inspired driving performance, we’ve added standard safety features, including side-curtain air bags, ESP, traction control and Brake Assist, that offer consumers best-in-class performance and safety.”

The new 2007 Chrysler Pacifica provides an enhanced driving experience with a new 4.0-liter SOHC V-6 engine that makes 253 hp and 262 lb.-ft. of torque that is mated to a new six-speed automatic transmission. The 2007 Chrysler Pacifica is the first Chrysler Group vehicle to offer the 4.0-liter V-6 engine and the six-speed automatic transmission.

When developing the 4.0-liter engine, Chrysler Group engineers focused on five primary noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) metrics: engine vibration at the motor mounts, radiated noise, crank shaft torsionals, induction snorkel noise and sound quality. Focus on those metrics resulted in improved design and performance, which includes new main bearing diameters on the crankshaft, lower reciprocating-mass piston and rod assemblies, improved block and oil pan structure, reduced bearing clearance, low rumble intake manifold and equal-length dual exhaust.

The new six-speed automatic transmission is standard on all Pacifica models equipped with a 4.0-liter V6 engine. Building on the capability of Chrysler’s four-speed automatic transmission, the six-speed automatic transmission adds two new primary gear ratios and a secondary ratio for optimized passing performance at highway speeds. The gear ratios of the six-speed transmission enable the engine to work at lower speeds, providing improvements in highway fuel economy.

Part and process communization enabled the six-speed transmission to be developed in a shorter period of time and at a lower investment cost without sacrificing durability or quality.
