2-1-1 Phone Service to Expand in Southeast Colorado
2-1-1 for Southeast Colorado will celebrate on Friday, January 26, 2007
with the announcement they are expanding 2-1-1 phone service to four additional
counties. Service is currently available in Fremont and Pueblo Counties.
Effective Friday, with the addition of four more counties to be identified at
the press conference, six of the eleven counties in our region, known as Region
7 of Colorado, will have this important phone service available.
With service in those six counties, over 80% of the 275,000 residents of our
region will have access to 2-1-1 phone service. The goal is to provide service
in the remaining five counties before the end of 2007, as funding and specific
resource information becomes available. The Senior Resource Development Agency (SRDA),
Pueblo, provides 2-1-1 service for the region.
2-1-1 is a free easy to remember phone number that anyone can call to reach a
person trained to help you assess your needs and put you in touch with the
community services available to meet those needs.
In addition, it reduces calls to inappropriate agencies and organizations,
helping them save time and money, while preventing caller frustration and
congestion on 9-1-1. By dialing 2-1-1 you can also find opportunities to
volunteer or make donations.
