SCTC to share the gift of laughter this season with six silly sistersThe Steel City Theatre Company will present the hilarious musical comedy, Nunsense by Dan Goggin as their winter production December 14 - 16 at CSU-Pueblo's Hoag Hall. All performances will begin at 7:30 pm. The production will also serve as a fund-raiser to benefit organizations that support needy families and children in the Greater Pueblo Area. There will be boxes in the foyer for food and toy donations. Nunsense, a musical comedy, begins when the Little Sisters of Hoboken discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters, and they are in dire need of funds for the burials. The sisters decide that the best way to raise the money is to put on a variety show, so they take over the school auditorium, which is currently set up for the eighth grade production of Grease. Here we meet Reverend Mother Mary Regina (Jennifer Ritter of Pueblo), a former circus performer; Sister Mary Hubert (Maggie Holmes of Pueblo), the jazzy Mistress of Novices; a streetwise nun from Brooklyn named Sister Robert Anne (Christine Vitale of Colorado Springs); Sister Mary Leo (Jenni Barrett of Pueblo), a novice who is a wannabe ballerina; and the delightfully wacky Sister Mary Amnesia (Marlo Angel-Hartman of Pueblo), the nun who lost her memory when a crucifix fell on her head. Rounding out the cast is the Sister Mary Gofer, the Stage Manager portrayed by Grace Thomas of Pueblo. Featuring star turns, tap and ballet dancing, an audience quiz, and comic surprises, this show has become an international phenomenon. The Pueblo production is directed by Joey 'just j" Gonzales who is assisted by Barbara Beck (Music Director) Lori Trejo (Choreographer), and Sandy Martinez (Stage Manager). Pueblo acclaimed set designer Maurice Christophe will be creating the "Hoboken Convent." PPAG award nominated Technical Director, Taylor Cardinal will provide light and sound with Pat Pugh as producer. SCTC greatly appreciates all Nunsense show sponsors who include The Herman and Goldie Hilpan Foundation, Pueblo West Imaging, Pueblo Bank and Trust, D&S Paints, Castle Investment as well as their season sponsors, Power Credit Union and the CSU-Pueblo Music Department for their generous contributions. Tickets prices are $15 for general audience, $13 for seniors and $9 for students with an school ID. Tickets can be purchased by logging on to www.sctcpeublo.com or calling (719) 543-9800.
