Elections……¿Dónde Están?
Where do I begin? Do we have present remedial civic classes? Why is there so
little activity from our gente? I have attended many local political
forums; forums that are stressing education, and children, just to name a few
and cannot believe that I am the only Hispanic in the room. According to Pew
research, education and family are utmost importance in the Hispanic community.
I guess it pains me the most when different speakers bring up our community in
discussion, (some are sincere, some want to blame, some want to know if they are
legal). The subject is fresh and there is no one to give input from our
community. So the myths continue.
We will give you as much information as we can, so one can digest and vote
accordingly. It is very important that we as a community, State, nation, vote on
November 7th.
As most of you have seen, there are some difficult to understand people out
there running for office. We will attempt to maintain a level of civility; you
must understand that day after day that becomes more difficult. We have
requested from all candidates, a short summary on why the Hispanic community
should vote for them. We will present these to you in upcoming editions. Until
then, speak with your compadres…let us get involved.
