Pesticide Applicator Training Offered

The Colorado State University (CSU) Cooperative Extension Office in El Paso County announces the availability of three Pesticide Applicator trainings this fall.

The first training session will be on Nov. 28, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. and the second will be held that evening starting at 6:30 p.m. at the CSU Extension Office located at 305 South Union Blvd. The final training will be held on Nov.30, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. in Ellicott at the Community Center located at 23355 Highway 94.

Registration is only $25 for private applicators and $35 for commercial applicators wishing to get continuing education credits for the training. The registration fee includes training materials, handouts and resources, light refreshments and the Cooperative Extension Office will process participant’s applications for their licenses.

Beginning in January of 2007, it will cost applicators approximately $95 to obtain a private pesticide applicators license from the Colorado Department of Agriculture. These trainings are being held prior to January so that those wishing to obtain their license can avoid that cost. The license will be valid for four years. Even if a license is not needed, the training will help participants learn about how to safely apply pesticides.

Class size is limited and the trainings are expected to fill up quickly. Please call (719) 636-8920 to register for one of the trainings as soon as possible.
