YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region Joins National Initiative to Combat Obesity
YMCA Activate America gets People Moving in the Pikes Peak
Region
The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region, including the branches of Briargate, Garden
Ranch, Downtown, Southeast, and Tri-Lakes are gearing up for an action-packed
week of fitness and fun as America on the Move kicks off September 23 – 30. As
part of a nation-wide initiative to make our communities more healthy and
active, YMCA Activate America is rallying YMCAs across the country to further
enhance their service and support to kids, adults and families who want to lead
a healthy lifestyle, but struggle to do so.
“There is an increasing population of Americans who want to become more active,
but aren’t sure where to begin,” said Merv Bennett, CEO of the YMCA of the Pikes
Peak Region. “As an Activate America YMCA, we are committed to helping our
community get started with the first step.”
To get the community motivated the YMCA has planned a special kick-off party on
Saturday, September 23 at the Garden Ranch Family Center.
