The Sangre de Cristo Arts Center presents Hubbard Street 2
The Sangre de Cristo Arts Center is proud to present the 2006-2007 Center
Stage Performing Arts Series offering the finest in national touring dance,
music and theatrical attractions to the Pueblo community. With season tickets on
sale now, five new entertaining and diverse events will begin with Hubbard
Street 2 in October. This year’s Center Stage season is sponsored in part by the
Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado.
Hubbard Street 2 will hit the stage Thu, Oct 19, 2006 at 7:30 pm, in
Pueblo’s Sangre de Cristo Arts Center Theater. This event will be sponsored
locally by Walt & Kathie Bassett / Bassett Construction; Teresa & Don Luebke;
Cathy & Jim Valenzuela; Blair, Katrina, Maia & Matthew Presti; Pueblo
Chiropractic Center / Drs. Eric Young & Robert Graham; and Bernadette & Jim
Warren.
Based in Chicago, IL, Hubbard Street 2 was founded in 1997 as a component of
renowned Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. These inspired and energetic young
dancers combine modern, jazz and ballet to create an athletic form of dance by
some of the nation’s most promising choreographers.
Hubbard Street 2 (HS2), under the leadership of Artistic Director Julie
Nakagawa Böttcher, is a company of dancers between the ages of 17 and 25 who
perform a repertoire of works by some of the nation’s most promising young
choreographers. HS2 reaches more than 35,000 people annually through
performances in schools, community centers and theatres. Since its inception in
1997, HS2 has become a respected training ground for young professional dancers
and choreographers; a major component of HSDC’s Education & Community Programs;
a resource for new dancers for HSDC’s main company; and a company performing a
diverse and engaging repertory nationally and internationally.
