Dale Chihuly: New Works from the Fine Arts Center Collection
International glass artist Dale Chihuly is back- this time with works
personally selected by the artist for the Fine Art Center's permanent
collection. With the aquisition of these creations, the Fine Arts Center joins a
select group of museums worldwide to make Chihuly the aesthetic centerpiece of
its gallery.

Dale Chihuly: New Works from the Fine Arts Center Collection, featuring over
40 original works of art alongside the Native American treasures that inspired
them, will be on exhibition at the MODERN Sep 8, 2006 - Jan 7, 2007. The
exhibition of these spectacular pieces kicks off with an opening celebration on
Thu, Sep 7, from 4 - 7 pm at the FAC MODERN.
Background
During the summer of 2005, guests arrived in record numbers (more than 80,000)
to marvel at the beauty of Dale Chihuly's masterpieces in glass displayed in the
exhibition Chihuly at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. It was this
overwhelming response by the community, as well as the artistic significance of
Chihuly's work, that inspired the Fine Arts Center to make its recent aquisition
of Chihuly art valued at approxiamately $1.5 million.
All new. All dazzling. All yours.
Dale Chihuly: New Works from the Fine Arts Center Collection is the community's
first opportunity to experience this collection first hand. Distinctively
different from the 2005 Chihuly exhibition, this show represents a defining
moment for Colorado Springs. As permanent pieces in our collection, these
Chihuly works represent an important investment in our cultural future; one that
advances the reputation of both our museum and our city. Every citizen of
Colorado Springs can take pride and ownership in these internationally acclaimed
works of art. Be a part of this historic unveiling at the FAC MODERN.
Be Blown Away.
One of the most beloved contemporary American Artists at work today, Dale
Chihuly's work is found in the collections of over 225 museums worldwide. His
spectacular glass installations can be seen throughout the world, adorning such
sites as the canals of Venice and the ruins of the Temple of David in Jerusalem.
Now the masterworks of the world's greatest glass sculptor can be seen right
here in Colorado Springs.
