2nd Annual ADBA Bike Show revolves around artSummer is a celebration of outdoor living, and what better way to express life than to capture cycling through fine art. A group of local, regional and national artists have done just that! The second annual ADBA Bike Show promises to be even better than the first with opening night performances by Drum Academy USA, home of Flying Eagles, local trials team Bike Team Mobile, Classical Guitar with Wayne Hammerstadt, and microbrew. The show is co-sponsored by Smokebrush Foundation for the Arts, Springs magazine, and online bike art gallery <www.freehub.us> The cycling community comes together to commemorate a summer full of rides, competitions, and good company this Aug 4 - Aug 26. Opening nite is August 4, a part of the free First Fridays Art Walk in Downtown Colorado Springs. ADBA 2006 opens from 5 - 8 pm and the public is encouraged to attend the event by bicycle. Works for this year's event will include Bicycle Art from twelve new artists, as well as new works from returning 2005 exhibitors. Media will include, but is not limited to, acrylics, custom bikes, furniture, housewares, light sculpture, jewelry, multimedia, oils, photography, powdercoating, quilting, sculpture, spray paint, vintage bikes and youth art. The Smokebrush Gallery is located two blocks west of Downtown Colorado Springs, near America the Beautiful Park, and easily accessible from I-25. The Smokebrush is located under the Colorado Street Bridge at 218 W. Colorado, Ste. 102. Bristol Brewery will be the beverage sponsor for the event, and all donations will benefit the Medicine Wheel Trail Group. Bicycles are a contemporary trend among artists who seek to blend physical beauty and universal practicality.
