10th Annual Colorado Star BallTen years and still growing...that’s the Colorado Star Ball, the state’s only nationally attended Ballroom, Latin and Swing competition. Amateurs and professionals from the Denver Metro area and Colorado Springs will join dancers from all over the United States for three action packed days of competition, Jun 16 - 18. Dazzling costumes, great music and the magic of partner dancing is up close and personal- not only to the competitors who range in age from 8 to 78, but to the spectators who fill the ballroom to cheer on their favorites. An international panel of judges will mark some 800+ heats over the course of the weekend. When not on the floor performing, dancers can wander a colorful marketplace featuring costumes, shoes, jewelry and more for sale. The Colorado Star Ball is part of the Dancesport series, the global network of competitions and for the first time ever in Colorado, the CSB is offering ISDF (International Dance Sport Federation) competition in open Latin and Standard. The Colorado Star Ball is also the only competition in the country offering competitive heats in wheelchair dance. As a special feature this year, the Colorado Star Ball is proud to present a show on Saturday evening by the 7-time undefeated United States Professional Standard Champions Jonathan Wilkins and Katusha Demidova...A must-see for anyone who wants to watch perfection in Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep and Viennese Waltz. Organizers Richard and Jennifer Booth are proud of the growth of this competition over the last ten years. In 1996, it was a one-day event with 250 entries. Now it has expanded to three full days and thousands of entries. “There’s no doubt that movies like Shall We Dance, Mad Hot Ballroom, and Take the Lead as well as television’s Dancing with the Stars have brought partner dancing back into the mainstream. While competition isn’t for everyone, there are very few people who don’t enjoy the thrill of watching others dance.” The Booth’s, seasoned dance professionals and retired professional competitors themselves, have taught dance for more than twenty years at their school in North Denver...Booth’s Dancesport Ballroom. They are frequently invited to judge at competitions around the country. Their experience and contacts throughout the national dance community make the Colorado Star Ball a destination competition for dancers coast to coast.
