Colorado State University – Pueblo nursing students participate in annual health fairThe Nursing Department at Colorado State University – Pueblo will team with a host of local organizations to provide health screenings and education at its annual health fair on Saturday, April 22. The Annual 9Health Fair will be held from 7 a.m. - noon on April 22 at the Central High School Cafeteria, 216 E. Orman Ave. The event is open to the public at no charge. Attendees may talk with or ask questions of health professionals throughout the fair. Participants may obtain free colorectal exams, pap screenings, blood sugar testing, as well as free height, weight, Body Mass Index, vision, oral, breast, diabetes, hearing, and blood pressure/pulse screenings. In addition, other screenings will test Body In Balance, bone density, foot, and lung functions. A blood chemistry analysis is available for $30 and a prostate specific antigen (PSA) screen for $25. Colon cancer screening kits may be purchased for $5. The following organizations will provide interactive learning stations: Alzheimer’s Association, Arthritis Foundation, Asian Pacific Development Center, Brain Injury Association of Colorado, Colorado Prescription Drug Abuse Task Force, Colorado State Square Dance Association, Donor Awareness Council, Epilepsy Foundation, Gambler’s Anonymous, Get Smart Colorado: Use Antibiotics Wisely, Program Energy Colorado State University, Lupus Foundation of Colorado, NAMI-Colorado, National Ovarian Cancer Coalition-Southern Colorado Division, Parkinson Association of the Rockies, Rocky Mountain Stroke Association, Sangre de Cristo Hospice & Palliative Care, Sjogren’s Syndrome Foundation, Parkview Medical Center, and Science Care Anatomical.
