Library District receives Boettcher Foundation GrantPikes Peak Library District has received a $25,000 grant from the Boettcher Foundation to help complete construction of the new Fountain Branch Library. The new 10,000 square-foot library facility was designed by nationally renowned architect Elizabeth Wright Ingraham. It includes a 2,000 square-foot community room, dedicated areas for children and teens, a state-of-the-art computer center, a collection of more than 30,000 items that is part of the 1.2 million item floating collection at PPLD, a reading area with views of open space, and the Fountain Historic News Wall. The building is scheduled to open this spring. In response to the need for a larger, state-of-the-art library, PPLD has partnered with the City of Fountain and Fountain-Fort Carson School District, and the private sector to build the new facility. Total cost of the library is estimated at $2 million. The Boettcher Foundation is a privately endowed grant-making organization dedicated to assisting, encouraging, and promoting the residents of the State of Colorado. Colorado businessmen Claude K. Boettcher and his father Charles Boettcher founded the foundation in 1937. From its incorporation in 1937 through the end of 2005, the Trustees of the Boettcher Foundation have awarded grants in excess of $240 million. The library district and the Fountain Downtown Events Association are inviting the public to Fountain Branch Library’s fund-raising event, the Black Tie & Boots Ball. The event will be held from 7 to 11 pm Apr 22 at the new library, located at 230 S. Main Street. Tickets are $35 for an evening of food, drinks, dancing, and a silent and live auction. The event will help top off fundraising efforts. To purchase tickets or for more information, call 531-6333, x2205 or email <dfowler@ppld.org>
