NBC’s “the contender”, Alfonso Gomez to give keynote address at Latino Chamber Annual Dinner Dance

NBC’s “The Contender” bronze level winner, Alfonso Gomez will be a Guest Speaker at the Latino Chamber of Commerce of Pueblo’s 27th Annual Dinner Dance. Gomez achieved status when he beat Peter Manfredo Jr. on the first episode of the boxing reality show last spring.

The Latino Chamber Dinner Dance event is held annually to honor Chamber Members who have made significant and positive contributions to the Chamber’s mission and the community of Pueblo. Tickets for the event are $75 for members and $85 for non-members. Corporate tables of 8 and 10 are available. Reservations are required and must be made by Feb. 20 by calling 719-542-5513.

The theme for the Annual Dinner Dance is “Doors of Opportunity”, “Puertas de Oportunidades”. Gomez is expected to speak about the sacrifices his family made in order to give him a better opportunity to succeed as a fighter.

Gomez, 25 was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and moved with his family to the United States when he was 10 years of age. Gomez graduated high school with an 80-10 amateur record and since decided to go pro.

“He has a genuine passion about his Hispanic heritage and would truly inspire the 900 to 1,000 business owners, elected officials, and community leaders in Southern Colorado that will be in attendance,” said Sharon Johnson, Special Events Coordinator for the Latino Chamber of Commerce.

Gomez (14-3-1) will fight Gilbert Venegas (9-1-2) on ESPN2 at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 12 in Providence, R.I.
