Build your workforce of the future!

The Pikes Peak Workforce Center is seeking employers who understand the impending worker shortage and are willing to hire and train their future workforce.

How are you filling your workforce pipeline? Young people (14 to 21 years) are highly motivated, have a high energy level, are eager to learn and eager to earn! They often possess up-to-date computer skills and have innovative ideas that can help your business succeed and grow. And, they are fun too!

Some facts to consider: In 1978 our workforce growth rate was 3.5 percent. By 2008, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the rate to be 1 percent. By 2008 the number of young adult workers, from 25 to 40 year olds, will DECLINE by 1.7 million. That's 1.7 million less workers to replace the nearly 77 million baby boomers who will be eligible for retirement.

“Today’s young people will be your employees, tomorrow,” says Peggy Herbertson, Director of the Center. “So help us help them get off to the right start by hiring them for your summer jobs.”

The Governor’s Summer Job Hunt kicks off on March 8th with the Pikes Peak Workforce Center’s Youth Summer Opportunity Fair. This is local employers’ opportunity to hire the best from our pool of motivated young people looking for summer opportunities.

On Wed, Mar 8, 2006 from noon until 4 pm at the Doubletree World Arena Hotel All local businesses that need summer help and are willing to hire and train young workers should attend.

There is no charge for booth space but space is limited. Contact 667-3833 to reserve your booth space now.
