Temporary Permit to import personal transportation available at Consulate General of MéxicoThe Consulate General of Mexico in Denver has announced that Temporary Permits are now available for those who wish to import a vehicle into Mexican territory. Permits can be obtained through Banjercito, located at the Consular Representation, 5350 Leetsdale Dr, Denver. If you plan to travel to Mexico by car, here are the required documents which must be presented in order to obtain a Temporary Permit: 1. Document(s) that credits your migratory condition.
2. Certificate of vehicle´s ownership, valid registration, or lease contract. 3. Your Driver’s license (not necessary). 4. Payment of the service fee in $39.60 USD. 5. Guaranteed return of the vehicle to USA territory by paying with credit or debit card issued outside México, with the importer´s name. The credit card may be Visa, American Express, Visa Electron, Maestra and Master Card. ( If you do not have a credit card you must get your temporary permit at the border module by leaving a cash guarantee deposit). The amount is based in the model of the vehicle. When you return to USA your guarantee deposit will be refund (Year 2000 to present - 400 USD, from 1995 to 1999 - 300 USD, and older models than 1994 - 200 USD). 5. If you are not a Mexican citizen, you will also need an immigration form FMT, FM3 or FM2 (FM2 is only for those Collecting Rent in México), either one that applies to your case, that will be issued at the Banjercito booth. 6. If you have made other imports in the past, it is highly recommended to bring the last import’s return certificate. 7. You may TEMPORARY import cars, SUVs, RVs with a tow car up to 3.5 tons, Motorcycles and Boats.
