YP Corp. Complaints

Read the fine print!

The Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado reminds consumers, especially small business owners, to read the fine print if they receive a check from a company by the name of YP Corp.

Although the check looks official, a paragraph on the back states that by depositing the check in a business account, the signer agrees to pay $27.50 per month in exchange for listing the signer’s company information on the YP.Com Internet website. Although the check initially seems to be some sort of rebate check, the signed and deposited check is actually a contract for services.

The BBB serving Southern Nevada has processed 96 complaints about YP Corp. in the last 36 months. The company has an unsatisfactory record with the Bureau because of a continuing pattern of complaints.

The Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado recommends the following:

• Read the fine print on all documents before you sign.
• Question the motive of companies sending you a complimentary “rebate”.
• The Yellow Pages “walking fingers” logo and the Yellow Pages name are not trademarked so they can be used by many publishers to solicit business.

“It’s Just Good Business.”
