Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale 2005 Holiday Performances
The Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale’s holiday concert ‘Tis the Season
will be presented at the Pikes Peak Center on December 4 at 3 pm. All five of
the Chorale’s choirs (encompassing almost 200 young voices) will participate,
following a format that is nothing short of a professional stage show. This
fast-paced 90 minute concert will be packed with classic holiday favorites and
new selections from recent screen and stage productions including Polar Express,
A Charlie Brown Christmas and The Grinch. The Children’s Chorale will be joined
for this concert by the amazing Pikes Peak Ringers handbell choir, under the
direction of Kevin McChesney. The Children’s Chorale will be participating in
the Care and Share holiday food drive, and concert attendees are encouraged to
bring non-perishable food items to the concert on Dec 4. Tickets are $11 to $16
and are available at the Pikes Peak Center Box Office, 520-SHOW.
The Chorale’s high-school aged Summit Ensemble will once again bring a
special gift to the community when they present their own holiday concert Summit
by Candlelight on Dec 17 at 7:30 pm at the Broadmoor Community Church, 315 Lake
Ave. The Summit Ensemble is arguably one of the best high-school ensembles in
the United States. During the summer of 2005, the Summit Ensemble toured
England, Scotland and Wales, where they were invited to participate in the
prestigious Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, an honor bestowed on
only two American choirs this year. Tickets for this concert are $8 and are
available at the Children’s Chorale office, 633-3562 (3022 N. El Paso St.) or at
the door the evening of the performance.
The international award-winning Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale is
celebrating their 29th season as a part of the Colorado Springs community. The
season will include numerous performances at community events and at schools,
senior centers and care centers. During the holiday season, they will be
participating with Theatreworks in their productions of A Christmas Carol, as
well as appearing in the Broadmoor’s holiday show. Additionally, groups will be
taking part in many of the Fort Carson holiday events aimed at keeping spirits
high for their families who have members overseas.
