Veterans Day

This is the one Day that all Veterans, All of us you should know, All of us do not celebrate. To us, it is a Day that we recall friends, relatives that served in combat as members of our U.S. Forces.

It has always intrigued me that Veterans speak more freely among each other. What they will never tell their wives, sons and daughters, they will discus with each other.

The number of WWII Vets gets fewer each day. Likewise, those Vets that served in Korea. It’s funny how history records one thing, the same subject matter rings different when it is close to home. My uncle Harry Villarreal was among “the frozen chosen,” in 1950, 8000 US troops, mostly Marines struggled to survive the coldest winter in 100 years in Korea.

Surrounded by 120,000 Chinese soldiers, somehow they managed to survive. I have learned more since his passing of that crucial period in Korea. Our extended family has been blessed, many have served, and they all have survived to come home and pass on peacefully.

My fellow Vietnam vets and I still wonder why we get so little respect. Perhaps, we must forever carry on that legacy. I wish I could tell you that Vietnam was the last place to produce Veterans, but, as you know, we have Veterans form Bosnia, Afghanistan, Desert Storm, now Iraq, will it ever end...

All Veterans led lives of great consequence; they kept the torch of liberty alive.

Their sacrifice meant that for you, a precious and irreplaceable gift of Freedom. Our nation remains eternally grateful.

All gave some - Some gave all

God Bless
