Sports Hall Of Fame Turnout To Be Second Highest In Event’s Six-Year History
As Ceremonies Approach; More Than 40 Wasson '71 Football
Players To Be On Hand For Gala
Ticket sales have reached 640 for the Wednesday, November 9, Colorado Springs
Sports Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremonies at the World Arena. With
more than a week to go, it appears the turnout for this year’s event will be the
second highest in the six-year history of the event.
Presenting Sponsors for the 6th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies are The
Gazette and American National Bank.
Individual tickets are priced at $100, Patron Tables (10 seats) for $1000, and
Official Supporter Tables at $2500, with amenities that include a VIP reception
with the inductees and complimentary wine at the table. For reservations, call

The Class of 2005 includes legendary Air Force Football Coach FISHER DeBERRY,
former Manitou Springs High-Stanford-NFL standout JUSTIN ARMOUR, the late
broadcasting icon JACK FINLAYSON, Colorado College grad and collegiate women’s
basketball coaching great ADA GEE-dePROSSE, the 1971 State Championship WASSON
HIGH football team, and longtime United States Olympic Committee spokesman and
media chief MIKE MORAN.
It appears than almost 40 members of the 1971 Wasson football state champions
will be on hand for the induction ceremonies, along with coaches and supporters.
Also to be honored will be FRED WHITACRE, who brought the Sky Sox baseball team
to Colorado Springs in 1988 and later directed the initiative that built the CC
Ice Hockey season ticket base to one of the largest in the nation. He’ll receive
the Thayer Tutt Award.
CC’s longtime great men’s soccer coach, HORST RICHARDSON, will be honored with
the Col. F. Don Miller Award for a superb career which includes over 500
victories and 40 years of service to the College and the local sports community.
A magnificent silent auction and reception will begin at 6:00, with dinner set
for 7:00. The silent auction includes sports memorabilia from the Olympic Games,
the USOC, Colorado Avalanche, the Denver Broncos, Air Force Academy, the
Colorado Rockies, a one-year Lynmar Club membership, tickets to the 2008 Senior
Open Golf Tourney at The Broadmoor, dinner packages at The Blue Star Restaurant,
P.F. Chang’s, and The Melting Pot, Movies for a Year pass, ski passes, vintage
wines, round-trip airline tickets for two, Colorado College ice hockey tickets
and Penrose Club supper, original souvenir golf and t-shirts from the original
1979 USOC National Sports Festival held in Colorado Springs, and an original
1980 U.S. Olympic Team Stetson hat worn in the Opening Ceremonies by the
athletes and leadership, in perfect shape..
