ALMA Presents Southwestern Country-Folk Music from the Bill Hearne Trio
The Alamosa Live Music Association is proud to present the Bill Hearne Trio
playing their southwestern-style, country-folk flavored music in concert on
Saturday, November 5th, 7:30pm, at the Adams State College Theatre. Bill Hearne
is “one of the truest form of musical heroes… one of the greatest flatpickers
ever,” according to Nanci Griffith. Fellow performers and friends such as Jerry
Jeff Walker, Lyle Lovett, Michael Martin Murphey and Tish Hinojosa have also
praised the music and performances of Bill Hearne.
Bill and his wife Bonnie met at an institute for the blind and fell in love with
each other and the music they produced. Thirty years later, Bill Hearne still
performs with the same soul that garnered him national recognition throughout
his career.
Though not performing with Bonnie on a regular basis, Bill Hearne still lights
up the stage with a great cast of musicians. A multi-talented
multi-instrumentalist, Don Richmond has been playing with Hearne for many years.
In addition to playing with Hearne live, Don has produced, recorded, and played
on some of Bill and Bonnie's most recent releases, including "Celebration! Live
at La Fonda" and "From Santa Fe to Las Cruces."
Producer and bass player Susan Hyde Holmes rounds out the trio on stand-up bass
and vocals. A student of renowned Los Angeles session bassist Carol Kaye and a
veteran performer, Susan takes her bass work -- and her harmony vocals -- very
seriously.

The Alamosa Live Music Association is also proud to welcome staff from the
Colorado Council on the Arts for a reception before the show. The Colorado
Council on the Arts is a project of the State of Colorado that funds public art
programs like ALMA. ALMA has received a number of grants from the CCA in support
of the popular “Sundays at Six,” concert series held each summer in Alamosa's
Cole Park.
All of ALMA's supporters and members are welcome to come and meet
representatives from the CCA and celebrate this year's successful “Sundays at
Six,” concert series. In addition to cooking up some fantastic hors d'oeuvres,
ALMA's board of directors will also be on hand to meet with members and
supporters.
Tickets will be $10 at the door and $8 for ALMA members. Students with a valid
ID can get any remaining tickets for a $5 rush price beginning at 7:15pm.
