IHN Celebrates Opening of New Day Center
The Pueblo Area Interfaith Hospitality
Network announces the grand opening of its new Day
Center to help homeless children and their families.
The new Center is located at 225 Michigan Street.
One of the fastest growing segments of the homeless
population is families with children. A September
2004 Point in Time survey indicated that there were
3276 homeless people on that day, a typical day in
Pueblo County. The findings showed children and their
families accounted for 76% of the homeless population.
The mission of the Pueblo Area Interfaith Hospitality
Network (PAIHN) is to provide transitional shelter,
sustenance and intense case management to homeless
children and their families in the Pueblo Community.
Utilizing the facilities of affiliated churches and
their specially trained volunteers PAIHN has helped
127 children and 100 of their family members.
The new Day Center will allow PAIHN to better serve
the children and families in its network; providing
them with the necessary tools to regain
self-sufficiency in a dignified and nurturing
environment. PAIHN prides itself in providing its
case management and support services well past the
families stay within the network.
Two Open House opportunities are being held at 4 - 7
p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30 and 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct.
2 at 225 Michigan Street (across from La Renaissance
Restaurant). The two events will give the public a
chance to tour the new facility, meet staff and Board
members and learn more about the goals of the Pueblo
Area Interfaith Hospitality Network. Food and
beverages will be provided. Area media are
encouraged to attend the Sunday afternoon Open House.
Cameras are welcome.
Pueblo Area Interfaith Hospitality Network (PAIHN) is
a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, an affiliate of
Family Promise.
