Happy Birthday to me
I cannot remember when the date on the latest edition of this newspaper
corresponded with my birthday, but this year it does.
As most of you know this is number 39, I don’t care, that’s my story and I’m
sticking to it. (I can hear the chuckles from Denver to Sugar City)
It’s been an interesting 39 years, many ups, a few downs. I guess we all
experience the same. Why is it that some of the downs are so debilitating. . We
all seek that impetus, which will provide happiness forever, we think we found
it. And then it’s gone, can’t figure out, why me? therefore, but we continue on.
It is the healthiest option. This is where I might normally discuss the disaster
in New Orleans. I am going to leave that alone, our family has been blessed, my
sister and her husband were both employees of the University of New Orleans,
they lived there with three children. In July he got a new job at Oregon State,
they moved out of New Orleans to the Pacific Northwest. We shall forever be
thankful.
Hope you enjoyed the State Fair; it was great to see many of my 39 year old
friends. I don’t think the Fair suffered much being a few days shorter. We need
to be more creative in the future, in an effort for the Fair to grow and draw
more people.
Well, it is my birthday and a very nice lady made me a nice, big, cake, so
big (two extra hours needed at the Y), I can’t let it go to waste. See you on
the next birthday. Don’t forget, it will be the big Four 0, Yea right
