From September 25th through October 2nd the Mexican Riviera will have the
visit of 28 young women vying for two crowns - Miss Latina U.S. 2005 and Miss
Teen U.S. Latina 2005. The pageant delegates are all U.S. residents of Latin
American ancestry or birth and they hail from different states in the country.
An array of activities awaits the U.S. delegates upon their arrival in Cancún
that culminate with the Pageant Finals on Saturday night, October 1st in the
Kukulcan Theatre of the Barceló Maya Beach Resort in the Riviera Maya. The MISS
LATINA U.S. 2005 title winner will receive a total prize package valued at
$15,000 and the opportunity to compete with delegates from the Americas and
Europe in the Miss Latin America world competition in representation of the USA.
This is the sixth consecutive year that the world-wide hotel chain Barceló
Hotels & Resorts joins with Organización Miss America Latina, Inc.,
headquartered in Miami, Florida, to produce this event. This year’s show host is
Spanish Network TV presenter Jackeline Cacho and featured artists are Reggaeton
group La Familia. TeleLatina.TV of Switzerland will be in charge of the live
Internet webcast to the world and Hot Liquid Productions of Utah will be
responsible for the television taping for future broadcast in the USA.
The Miss Latina U.S. Pageant returns for the second time to the Riviera Maya,
site of the 2003 event, and for the third time to Mexico, where it was staged in
1989 as part of the preliminary activities of the international Miss Latin
America Pageant that year in the state of Sonora.
