Job Seekers Beware: Safe Sales Inc. Not Safe At All

(Colorado Springs, CO, August 4, 2005) - A company offering a starting salary of $30,000 per year has some job seekers believing this may be a plausible job offer. However, it is far from legitimate. In fact, it is possibly an attempt at identity theft.

Safe Sales, Inc. is sending out mass e-mails to recruit what they are calling an “escrow operator.” Responsibilities for this home-based position include receiving e-mails and answering phone calls during the day. The job description also states “You should maintain an account (accounts) in banks for acceptance of money from our clients and open accounts in banks accessible to you…”

The e-mail is riddled with typos and grammatical errors, which may be a clue that it’s from a foreign country.

Here are some tips from the Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado:

• A legitimate business is not going to solicit you for employment by e-mail or internet.
• Employers do not require you to open a bank account in your name or provide them with your account information.
• Investigate and research thoroughly any company you would consider working for.
