Memorial Hospital Hosts Advanced Medical Directives Classes
In 2005, the Terri Schiavo story gained worldwide media attention and stirred
heated debates underscoring the importance of medical advanced directives in
carrying out the wishes of critically ill patients, who are unable to convey
their intentions for continued care. Memorial Hospital is hosting two separate
information sessions focused on advanced medical directives entitled “The Choice
is Yours” on August 11 and 29, 2005. Times
and locations are:
- Thursday, August 11, 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Memorial Administrative
Center (MAC), 2420 East Pikes Peak Avenue, Classroom B.
- Monday, August 29, 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Pikes Peak East
Library, 5550 N. Union Boulevard.
Memorial’s free-to-the-public advanced medical directives classes will include
instructional information on living wills, medical durable power of attorney and
CPR directives—presented by Memorial Nursing Education Director Barbara
Newberry, RN, MPA. Class seating is limited and reservations are required
through Memorial’s HealthLink office at 444-CARE.
