Pre-College Days set for July 19 and 22 at OJC
In an effort to help new students prepare for their first semester of
college, Otero Junior College will be hosting Pre-College Days on July 19 and
July 22 from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Ed Stafford Theatre of the OJC
Humanities Center. The Pre-College Days event provides an orientation for new
students to Otero Junior College and to the many services available at the
college. Students can choose to attend either of the two days for their
orientation. Students do not need to attend both days.
Included in each orientation session will be information on the college
experience that includes dormitory life, the dining hall, clubs and
organizations, programs of study, and tips for college and academic success.
Also included will be presentations on financial aid, academic advising, and a
tour of the college.
According to Brad Smith, director of advising, guidance and recruitment at
OJC, attending an orientation session is important for both the new student and
their parents. “When a student and their parents attend an orientation session,
it provides an opportunity to learn more about OJC, and to have many of their
questions answered. We want all students to be successful here at Otero and this
is one of the positive steps we offer to better ensure that success,” explained
Smith.
Lunch will be provided for all students registered for the fall semester and
their guests. For more information about Pre-College Days contact Brad Smith at:
