McDonald’s charities offer scholarships to high school seniors
Southern Colorado high school seniors who need financial assistance to attend
college are encouraged to apply for the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC)
HACER (Hispanic American Commitment to Educational Resources) Scholarship
Program. Applications are available online at
http://www.rmhc.org/mission/scholarships/scholarships_hacer/index.html
The HACER Scholarship Program provides financial support to Hispanic students
committed to pursuing post-secondary education in their chosen field at any
accredited institution. HACER is dedicated to impacting the lives of young
people in the Hispanic community by recognizing their accomplishments,
acknowledging their potential and rewarding their involvement in the community.
Students applying for a scholarship must complete and submit an application form
and the required documentation by February 15, 2005.
Scholarship eligibility criteria focus on academic achievement, financial need
and community involvement. A committee of local educators and business and
community leaders will select the awardees.
Since 1998, McDonald’s Owner/Operators of Southern Colorado, the RMHC of
Southern Colorado and RMHC National have awarded $134,000 in the form of 211
scholarships to local students of Hispanic descent. To date, 12 recipients have
used their money to become seniors at college – making them graduates of our
program.
"The HACER Scholarship Program creates opportunity for students from Southern
Colorado neighborhoods to fulfill their potential and realize their dreams of
attending higher education. We’re proud at how far they’ve come, and want to
pave the road so they can continue on their academic journey,” said Beth Jenner,
Executive Director -- Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Colorado.
