Silver Key Board of Directors Names New CEO
The first step to meeting future needs
The Board of Directors of Silver Key Senior Services, Inc. announced John
Morse as chief executive officer (CEO). This is the first step to aligning the
organization to better serve the growing senior population in El Paso County.
“Our elderly population of 65 and over will more than double by 2020. With this
exponential growth projected for the future, Silver Key has to prepare now for
the increasing demand for senior care,” said Doug Truitt, board chairman of
Silver Key Senior Services, Inc. “John Morse is the right person to meet these
challenges. He’s a compassionate individual who brings strong leadership,
operational and strategic planning skills to the organization.”
Morse, who assumes the CEO position on Nov. 15, will be responsible for leading
Silver Key into the future by developing a new strategic direction. Jon
Stepleton is currently the interim CEO and will assist with transitioning Morse
into the organization. Founder Mikki Kraushaar will continue her invaluable role
as president emeritus and important advocate for Silver Key Senior Services,
Inc. and remain the spirit behind the organization.
“I was drawn to this opportunity because I will be able to focus my energies on
helping one of the most vulnerable segments of our community,” said John Morse.
“My number one priority will be to continue the high quality and compassionate
level of service that Mikki Kraushaar established and sustained over the past 34
years. While I’ll never be able to replace her, I will ensure that Silver Key
continues to serve the elderly with the passion and commitment that was Mikki’s
hallmark.”
Currently police chief for the Fountain Police Department, Morse has been a
pivotal leader in the criminal justice systems in Colorado Springs and Fountain
since 1991. His role as chief of police has allowed him to develop programs
related to other vulnerable segments of our community such as victims of
domestic violence, children and the mentally ill. Morse was instrumental in
implementing the Crisis Intervention Team concept for police officers in
southeastern Colorado that enhances the law enforcement response to the mentally
ill in crisis reducing injuries to them, those around them and the responding
officers. He holds a Ph.D. in public affairs as well as Masters’ degrees in
public administration and business administration.
