Adams State College provides many opportunities in Hispanic Culture
Adams State College is an Hispanic Serving Institution, and received the
Title V Grant to support programs to enrich all students’ experience. Adams
State College has a minority population of 29 percent, of which 26 percent are
Hispanic. As a Regional Education Provider, Adams State College’s focus is three
fold, encompassing educational, cultural, and economic development needs
throughout southern Colorado.
That commitment begins while students are still on campus. There are many
organizations on campus that give students a chance to be involved, including
the El Parnaso Club, one of the oldest clubs on campus; the Semillas de la
Tierra Folklorico Dance Group, a fixture at Adams State since 1972, the dance
group performs throughout the year, including the December Fiesta; and students
performing in the ASC Mariachi Band may be eligible for a $1,000 scholarship.
