The Consul General of Mexico in Denver, Colorado
The Consulate General of Mexico informs that Juan Marcos Gutierrez took
office as new Consul General of Mexico in Denver, Colorado, on March 5, 2004.
Consul Gutierrez is replacing Leticia Calzada.
He holds a degree in law from the Autonomous University of Baja California,
where he is a professor of constitutional law. He has post-graduate certificates
in financial and trade dispute resolution.

After receiving his law degree, he served as a General Secretary and Chief
Legal Officer in the government of Tijuana, Baja California. He was also adviser
to Baja California's General Secretary of State.
From 1997 top 2000, he served as a federal congressman for the National Action
Party (PAN) in the Chamber of Deputies, Mexico's House of Representatives.
During his tenure as a congressman, he was president of the Chamber's commission
for municipal development and commission of impeachment proceeding. He was also
general director of the Institute for the Technical Development of Public
Finance, a think tank dedicated to the study of fiscal federalism, in
Guadalajara form 2001 to 2003.
Juan Marcos Guiterrez was appointed as Consul General by President Vicente Fox
and ratified by the Mexican Senate, February 11, 2004.
