Kids love Kids Day at the El Paso County Fair!
Imagine this, you’re a kid and the World Famous El Paso County Fair is coming to Calhan on July 19-20, 22-27. What day would you like Mom and Dad to take you on? Kids Day, why of course! The El Paso County Fair is hosting an event-filled day dedicated to the wee ones on Thursday, July 24.
Don’t worry, Mom and Dad, admission to Kids Day won’t break the pocketbook. On this special day, kids 12 and under get in for only $2.00. For this low-priced entry fee, you will receive access to attractions such as Rosaire Zoppe’s Chimpanzees, Trout Fishing at the Berkley Kids’ Outdoor Aquarium, Wild West Express, Phil Machotka’s storytelling and much more! Kids will also be encouraged to get involved at the fair. Some of the interactive activities include: Dress Your Potato, a Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest, , pony rides and Glaser Gas presents the Noah’s Ark Petting Zoo.
New this year is the Olde Tyme Farm, presented by Terry Brown. Featured will be a glimpse of what real farm life is. Kids can do a lot of hands on activities, even shell ear corn or milk a cow!
In addition to the mind-boggling activities, the El Paso County Fair will be offering up an educational experience as well. The Colorado Springs Fire Department Smoke Trailer, Sheriff’s Department Puppet Show, along with demonstrations from the Denver Museum of Nature and Science will be making appearances too.
If you are unable to attend Kids Day, do not fret. The El Paso County Fair will be filled with excitement the whole week through. Some features include: Brown’s Carnival, Cowboy Steve and His Whirlin’ Lasso, Pippi the Clown, Open and 4-H animal shows, live music and dances! Feel free to wander the fairgrounds and enjoy the décor emulating the seven continents for our “Wander the World” theme this year.
