Sun Construction, Inc., once again, named as one of the top 500 Hispanic Businesses in the United States, by Hispanic Business for 2001. 

This is Sun Construction, Inc.'s fifth award by Hispanic Business,  prior awards were 1992, 1995, 1998, 2000 and 2001.

Floyd Abeyta is owner and president of Sun Construction, Inc. Floyd began his construction career in 1971 operating heavy equipment on numerous projects. Upon completion of his AAS degree, in Mechanical Engineering Technology,  Floyd and his wife, Dolores, founded Sun Construction. 

Floyd said "my  wife and I  started Sun Construction in 1983 with one backhoe and one employee, some hopeful dreams and a few realistic goals."

Sun Construction, Inc. had shown remarkable personnel retention. Long-term employees and proven managers have given Sun the leading edge in the construction industry.

 

Torres & Associates was named as one of the top 500 Hispanic Businesses in the United States by Hispanic Business.

Alliance General Contractors was formed by a merger between Torres & Associates, Inc. and Gateway Construction Company in February, 2002. 

The principle officers are Wendel P. Torres - President and Brad S. Hix - Vice-President. 

Torres & Associated was formed in October 1987 and Gateway Construction 1996. Alliance General Contractors specialize in commercial construction in new & remodel/Tenant finish.

They are the recent recipients of the Department of Defense, Pikes Peak Region Military Installations, Fiscal year 2002 "Small Business of the Year" award. The installations includes Peterson AFB, Air Force Space Command, Schiever AFB, Army Space Command, USAF Academy and Fort Carson. They were awarded the United States Army Reserve Center, Building at Fort Carson for $7.2 million due to start in August of 2002.

Wendell Torres was the Regional Finalist chosen by the Small Business Administration as the National "Small Business Person of the Year" and will represent this region (Colorado) in Washington, D.C.

 

Mike Shaw named Top 500 Hispanic Businesses in the United States by Hispanic Business, he is ranked in the top 20.
