Richard Alexander Reyes
Grandfather of Robbie and Aliya Reyes. Also survived by his parents, Florence and Henry Reyes; mother-in-law, Harriett Koller; brothers and sisters, Henry "Spook" (Jane) Reyes, Tom (Lynette) Reyes, Cathy (Ron Yoder) Reyes, Cindy Reyes, Robert (Andrea) Reyes, Los Angeles, Calif., Debby Reyes, Denver, Paul Reyes, Ivan (Melissa) Reyes, and Becky Reyes of Santa Fe, N.M.; sisters-in-law, Priscilla (Pat) Smith, Colorado Springs, Maryellen (Gary) Mencimer, Palm Springs, Calif., and Kathleen (Jim) Curtis of Denver; nieces and nephews, Melissa Reyes, Dana (Tony) and their daughter, Alyx Garrett, Raeann and Tate Reyes, Kali and Linda Reyes, Danielle, Max and Alex Reyes, Los Angeles, Calif., Marcus and Brandon Alfaro, Denver, Paul "Doodle" Reyes, Ivan and Gabby Reyes, Chelsea and Amanda Cordova, Racquel Gallant, Santa Fe, N.M., Wendy and David James, Kendra Smith, Chicago, Ill., and Julie and Jeff Curtis of Denver; godson, Craig James; aunt and uncle, Esper and Louie Pequete of Rocky Ford; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Richard graduated from Centennial High School in 1969. He was a longtime automobile sales consultant for over 30 years, 25 years with John Marzolf/Nissan Subaru, formerly Hedrick Landrum. He was the current chair of the Pueblo Latino Chamber of Commerce, current board member of the Pueblo County Planning and Zoning Commission, a member of the Beulah Valley Arts Council, Our Lady of Lourdes Church parish council and a member of the Beulah Community Center Board. Richard was a high school and college basketball official for 24 years. He was past president of the Pueblo Basketball Group Study Board No. 4, past member of Pueblo Kiwanis, Pueblo Symphony Board of Directors, and El Pueblo Boy's and Girl's Ranch Board of Directors, past president of El Pueblo Boy's and Girl's Ranch Foundation, and past member of the Boy's and Girl's Club of Pueblo Board of Directors. Richard was rated in the top ten for Nissan sales in a 14 state region and was featured in the Who's Who Nissan Sales Talk National magazine numerous times and was also salesman of the year multiple times. He was an avid golfer, he loved singing Mexican music, he enjoyed the "Y" guys at the YMCA, going to the movies, and most of all loved his family and the time he spent with his grandchildren. Richard had tremendous faith in God and loved people. He touched the lives of many with his humor, love and compassion and always put his heart into everything he did. Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, July 15, 2002, 7 p.m., Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, celebrated by the Rev. Michael DeSciose and the Rev. Thomas Hinni. The family will receive friends after the Mass in the parish gymnasium adjacent to the church. Interment, Tuesday, July 16, 2002, Beulah, Colo. A luncheon will be served 1 p.m. Tuesday at Pueblo Community College Ballroom. The family kindly requests the omission of food and flowers.
