Colorado Senators move to fill Judicial Vacancies
Campbell and Allard forward nine names to White House
Colorado U.S. Senators Ben Nighthorse Campbell and Wayne Allard today announced they have forwarded nine names to the White House to fill two vacancies on the Colorado District of the United States District Court.
"These individuals are all highly qualified and diverse with varied experiences in the legal community," said Senator Allard. "I look forward to working with President Bush in quickly filling the two current vacancies that exist on the Colorado District Court."
"I am convinced that any of those fine candidates will honorably serve justice in Colorado Federal District Court," said Senator Campbell.
The nine Coloradans forwarded to the White House for consideration are:
Christine Arguello - currently the Chief Deputy Attorney General in the office of Colorado Attorney General. She is a resident of Westminster.
Robert Blackburn - a District Court Judge in the 1 6d' Judicial District, State of Colorado, and former Deputy District Attorney for the 16~ Judicial District. He is a resident of Las Animas.
Allison Eid - an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado School of Law and former law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. She is resident of Golden.
Phillip Figa - in private practice with his own firm since l980. Former President of the Colorado Bar Association. He is a resident of Greenwood Village.
Raymond Gifford - currently serves as the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission and was a law clerk for U.S. District Court Judge Richard Matsch. He is a resident of Denver.
Marcia Krieger - Chief Judge, United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado.
William Leone - currently a partner in the law firm Cooley Godward L.L.P. and former law clerk for Colorado Court of Appeals Chief Judge David Enoch. He is a native of Trinidad.
James Scarboro - currently a partner in Arnold and Porter. Me is a former law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Byron White. He is a resident of Boulder.
Kathleen Tafoya - currently an Assistant U.S Attorney for the Organized Crime ~Y: Enforcement Task Force. She is a resident of Golden.
