GALA 2002
The guest speaker for this year's GALA will be the President and CEO George Herrera of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) in Washington, D.C. Mr. Herrera is primarily responsible for communicating the interests of over 1.4 million Hispanic-owned businesses across the U. S. to both the private and the public sectors. Mr. Herrera is a nationally recognized expert in the field of economic and minority business development. He has testified on numerous occasions before the U. S. House of Representatives and has authored articles and journals concerning legislation and policies as it pertains to small business. Prior to joining USHCC, Mr. Herrera was president of Burgos and Associates. Mr. Herrera was recently recognized by Hispanic Business Magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the United States and by Black Enterprise Magazine as one of the 30 future leaders for economic empowerment of minority communities. Mr. Herrera is also the creator of the first ever national Hispanic business television show entitled "Hispanics Today: Leaders of the New Millennium" which airs on NBC nationally. Most recently, Mr. Herrera was named a fellow of the Wharton School E-Business Program at the University of Pennsylvania.
