Lionel Rivera elected Vice Mayor, Colorado Springs

Mr. Lionel Rivera was elected to Vice Mayor by his City Council colleagues on April 23, and will serve a two year term. Mr. Rivera is married to Lynn Pachelli-Rivera of Trinidad, Co, his mother, Zoila M. (Cerrillo) Rivera, came from Monterrey, México, his father, José Reyes from Santa Fe, NM. Lionel has five brothers.

Rivera has a Master of Business Administration degree, from Jacksonville State University (1986), Jacksonville, AL, and a Bachelors of Science, Microbiology degree from Texas Tech University.

Lionel served as an officer in the U.S. Army from 1980 to 1987. From March 1984 to April 1987 he served with the 4th Infantry Division (M) at Ft. Carson, as a Captain.

Lionel was elected to an at large position on the Colorado Springs City Council in April of 1997 and re-elected again in April 1999.

He is a founder and past president of the Colorado Springs Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, served on the Colorado Springs Greater Chamber of Commerce Board from 1991-1994 and 1995-1996. he was also a Big Brother in the YMCA's Big Brother and Big Sister program from 1994 to 2000. He and his wife Lynn attend St. Mary's Cathedral.
